The bells were ringing, the potato bar was yummy, and the earrings were beautiful on a cold winter's night! Christmas Bunco at Toni's is always a celebration, and even sweeter as we celebrated Tammy's birthday!

Recipes
Cranberry Punch
64 oz. cranberry juice
1 cup orange juice
1 can ginger ale or 7-Up
Vodka - optional
float cranberries or orange slices in your punch bowl or ice cubes

Bacon Cheddar Ranch Pulls
1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread
8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
3 oz bag Oscar Mayer Real Bacon bits
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tbsp Ranch dressing mix

Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Do not cut through the bottom crust. Place slices of cheese in between cuts. Sprinkle bacon bits on bread, making sure to get in between cuts. Mix together butter and Ranch dressing mix. Pour over bread. Wrap in foil the entire loaf in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

A great turnout and so much fun at the 3rd annual Mountain Home AFB Bunco Benefit for Breast Cancer! Thank you to the members of the Officer's Spouses Club who host this worth while and fun event to help those in their battle with breast cancer.

This Bunco is one of five Bunco fund raisers in southwest Idaho that are spin-offs of our Mountain Home Bunco For Breast Cancer event that we launched in 2004. Girls really just want to have fun, and help those that need help.

It was BUNCO for brides this month at Tammy's! Dawn wore her wedding dress, and it still fits! Lucky you Dawn! I wore my white shorty robe with pearls, KrisAnn and Aleisha wore bridal veils fashioned out of ribbons and lace. Rose brought her Gunny Sack dress she wore to her wedding reception along with pictures, and Tammy, Tammy, Fran and Toni brought wedding pictures to share. What a fun trip down memory lane!

The slippers came out from under the bed, and we had a jammies Bunco night in April. Lisa wore her pretty European, felt slippers that were ooooh so pointy and Belvarian! We dined on King Ranch Chicken Casserole, Quinoa with Black Beans and Corn, Cinnamon Cake and our favorite New Age wine. Fun times and lots of giggles!

Our first Christmas Earring Exchange was a **bling * bling ** success and so much fun! The gals know how to buy earrings we all love (well, 'cept Dawn who cried when the night was over and she had the BSU Bronco earrings). Being the Bronco fan that I am, I gladly traded with her and she got a pair of bee-utiful silver earrings and I have the Bronco bling.

The "Ghouls" in October

Bunco babes are quite adventurous to say the least when it comes to costumes, one came as a "boy" Bronco fan, another as a Wal-Mart worker, another as an Avon Lady from the 70's. We saw shoulder pads, flowered skirts and lots of blue and green eye shadow!

Rose's home was decorated from ceiling to floor with spiders and pumpkins, and she prepared a meal for the wicked that was SO delicious! Thanks to Deb Bayles for subbing, and we missed Lisa and our two Tammy's.

We had a small bunco crew in July, and thanks to those that attended. We had a great time, and enjoyed our first game night at Tammy's home. Tammy prepared a delicious chicken pot pie, yummy jello dessert, salad, and bread.

We had a lot to share and celebrate in June! Fran's daughter Erin is engaged, and Toni's daughter Kelsey is engaged too - congratulations! Rose shared her good news that her son RJ and his family are moving to Boise this fall. I passed around my grandma's brag book with pictures of one month old baby Allee. Kris's son was recently married and congratulations to their family. And Bonnie, we feel so bad you fell and have a BIG ouchy on your forehead.

Here is the recipe for Kris' yummy dessert.
Upside – Down Berry Cake

½ cup chopped walnuts
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1 cup fresh or frozen sliced strawberries
(or a bag of mixed frozen berries, thawed)
¾ cup sugar
1 3 oz. pkg raspberry jello
1 ½ cup mini marshmellows
1 yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1 ¼ cup water
2 T canola oil

In a greased 13x9 pan, layer the walnuts and berries, sprinkle with sugar, jello and marshmellows. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, water and oil, beat on low speed 30 seconds, then beat on medium for 2 minutes. Pour over the berry mixture.

Bake 350’ for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving platter. Top with whipped cream.

In between rounds, we watched Lindsey Vonn win a gold medal in the women's downhill. Way to go Lindsey - victory for the USA at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics!

Bunco and the Pink Glove Dance!

Bunco Players - are you ready to rock the world with your pink gloves on? We will be giving pink gloves (donated by Steve Gilman, Gilman Orthodontics) to each bunco player on Feb 27. Angelina Axtell will be putting together a couple of fun hand jives and quick dance steps for us to have fun with, and PROMOTE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS!

The idea struck me as I rewatched the viral YouTube video sensation that was done by the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland. It is great, and looks so fun! We can do it too! No skill required, just an engergy to have fun and to show that our group promotes breast cancer awarness.

Santa's not happy with Snake Eyes!

Apple, Dried Cherry, & Walnut Salad with Maple Dressing
Dressing
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 teas. sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Salad
1 bag mixed baby greens
2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into match size strips
1/2 cup dried cherries, or cranberries
1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts

Whisk mayo, syrup, vinegar and sugar in bowl. Gradually whisk in oil until mixture thickens slightly. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Toss greens, apples, cherries, and 1/4 cup walnuts in large bowl. Toss with enough dressing to coat. Top with remaining walnuts.

Our November Bunco was oh soooo yummy and fun! Tammy's house was filled with the aroma of fall and Thanksgiving. Thank you for a wonderful dinner! The Gobbler Cobbler Pie was a hit to say the least. Yes, Fran liked the gobbler pie better than she likes Donny Osmond!

Gobbler Cobbler Pie (makes 2 pies)
Ingredients
• 1 package long-grain wild rice (recommended: Uncle Ben's)
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
• 1 green bell pepper, diced
• 1 package fresh sliced mushrooms (I used canned)
• 1 tablespoon oil
• 1 can French style green beans, drained
• 3 cups cooked turkey or chicken - chopped
• 1 can cream of chicken soup
• 2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
• 1 small can sliced water chestnuts, drained
• 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 package preformed pie crust (2 crusts)
• 1 egg, beaten

Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Prepare the rice according to package instructions and set aside. Saute onions, peppers, and mushrooms in oil and set aside.

Combine all ingredients except 1 cup of cheese and pie crust, into large bowl and mix well. Pour into greased 9-inch glass pie plate. Top with remaining 1 cup cheese and set aside.
Roll out pie crust, cut into 1/2-inch wide strips and cover dish in lattice design, then brush dough lightly with egg wash.

Place in 425 degree F oven for 30 minutes, when top is golden brown, remove, let cool, before serving.

This dish is an excellent way to use holiday turkey leftovers, plus it freezes well.

October was tagged "Dress like a Man" for Bunco. And man oh man, did the girls get out their finest menswear! If it was a contest (it was not) I would have to vote for Kris who came as Bubba Redneck Bob - dirty t-shirt, mullet haircut, chest hair, sleeveless flannel, ick - yes - she was very ickky looking!!! We laughed all night!

Gracias Rose for a fine Mexican themed dinner...chicken tacos, rice, beans, chips, cookies, and pumpkin bread. Muy delicioso!

A chef's spoon award to Lisa for hosting Bunco after spending 5 vacation days in the California wine country. She returned home late Tuesday night, and whipped out a fabulous and delicious dinner for our July Bunco gang on Wednesday. Soft summer breezes, light and creamy frosty orange creme dessert, and Happy Beach cocktails! Our June Bunco was a delight! It was fun and so summery!

Menu was Million Dollar Spaghetti, fresh greens with tossed walnuts and cranberries, rustic Italian bread, and frozen orange creamcicle dessert that took us back to our childhoods! Thanks to a great group of friends for making our bunco nights so fun!

Frosty Orange Creme Layered Dessert

2 cups orange sherbet or sorbet, softened

1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup orange juice

LINE 9x5-inch loaf pan with foil. Spread sherbet onto bottom of prepared pan to form even layer. Freeze 10 min.

MEANWHILE, beat cream cheese in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Gradually add condensed milk and juice, beating until blended. Gently stir in COOL WHIP. Spread over sherbet in pan.

FREEZE 3 hours. To unmold, invert pan onto plate; remove foil.

Million Dollar Spaghetti

1 package thin spaghetti

1 tablespoon butter

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

Favorite Spaghetti Sauce (about 2-3 cups)

8 ounces cream cheese

1/4 cup sour cream

1/2 pound cottage cheese

1 tablespoon minced green pepper

Cook spaghetti and drain. Saute beef until brown. Add tomato sauce salt and pepper, remove from heat. Combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and green pepper in a food processor. In a 13x9 pan, spread one half the spaghetti and cover with the cheese mixture. Add a little sauce. Add the remaining spaghetti. Spread spaghetti sauce over top. Chill.

Remove from refrigerator 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who helped make the 6th Annual Bunco for Breast Cancer a smashing success! We had a great time seeing old friends, and making new friends, in our journey to raise money for St. Luke's Health Foundation, Breast Care Services. We raised $8,200 to help women who cannot afford mammograms and screenings.

Rose missed her calling - she should open "Rose's Restaurante". Thanks Rose for a great meal - pulled pork, roasted potatoes, salad, cake, wine, beer, no one went hungry! We had one extra player so Rose even sat out and cleaned her house while we rolled the dice and screamed with buncos! February was lots of fun, we talked details about our bunco benefit coming up on Feb 28 and how much fun we have doing this!

to reminisce with my old friends" Love that Rick Nelson song from the 70's! Reminded me of our August Bunco hosted by Fran. She made dinner for all of us with fresh food from her garden. She even made a fresh garden basket to give away as the 50/50 prize - and the lucky winner was Rose! Fran had fresh strawberries, cucumbers, a yummy taco salad, and layered fruit cake. Oh, oh, oh and no bake chocolate cookies we couldn't get enough of! It was a fun evening, and I hope the screams didn't scare off our two subs, Paula and Rosemary. Hope to see everyone in September at Rose's.

Cortnie Krohn hosted July Bunco. Cortnie made a yummy BBQ, potato salad and baked beans and even found time to bake a fabulous lemon cake. The time flew by and we were done by 9 pm. Dorene and Nicki filled in for absent players, and we had 12 regular players there. Summer seems to have our ladies playing softball, golf, vacationing, getting married or having babies! We are a busy group but still love to get together for our montly bunco game. I was gone in May and missed my bunco babes, and heard we had only 7 attend and that included some subs. I hope our June game has everyone there - Dawn Hart is our June hostess.
